The Story.
Born and raised in Fremantle, Western Australia, I have spent my professional life working in oncology — a field that demands a great deal, and gives back equally. Outside of that world, I needed somewhere to go. Something to make with my hands.
About ten years ago, I enrolled in an eight-week wheel-throwing course. That was enough. Something about working with clay — the quiet focus it demanded, the way the rest of the world receded — made an impression that never quite left.
In 2025, I came back to it. This time exploring both wheel throwing and hand building, rediscovering the craft with fresh eyes. The meditative rhythm of the wheel. The slower, more sculptural nature of building by hand. I fell in love with both. Eventually I made the decision to get my own wheel, and the rest followed naturally.
Shape Haus grew from a simple idea — that everyday objects should bring a little joy. Pieces for the home, shaped by hand, shaped with intention. The name says it: shape, for the home. Each piece is thrown, trimmed, and glazed here in Fremantle, carrying the slight variations that only something made by hand can hold.
